About the Equity and Rights Management Information System
Uganda’s Constitution guarantees equality before the law and commits the State to affirmative action for groups marginalised on the basis of gender, age, disability or other historical reasons. Turning these commitments into results depends on reliable, shared information.
Within the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD), the Department of Equity and Rights promotes, protects and upholds the rights of all citizens, particularly women, children, older persons, youth and persons with disabilities. Today, information on human rights cases, gender equality interventions and treaty recommendations is scattered across departments and partner institutions.
ERMIS brings this information together in one secure platform. It is designed to support case management, tracking of human rights recommendations, monitoring and reporting, and evidence-based decision-making by the Ministry and its partners.
